Controlled Medication Policy

Controlled Medication Policy

Agile Healthcare LLC will provide specific controlled substances to patients diagnosed with anxiety and attention deficit disorders. A controlled substance medication agreement must be signed by all patients, parents, or guardians

Policy Overview:

  • Patients may be subject to unannounced drug screenings or pill counts at any time during their treatment. If notified, they must report on or by 5 PM on the same day. Failure to comply may lead to discontinuation of controlled substance prescriptions.
  • Patients are advised to use no more than two pharmacies for their medications.
  • A drug screen may be required at any point during the treatment.
  • Patients may be notified at any time during treatment to visit a nearby LabCorp location or our office for an unannounced drug screening. We have partnered with Chesapeake Toxicology (CTR Labs) for urine testing. Patients can provide a urine sample in the office, which will be sent to CTR Labs for analysis. They will have 72 hours to comply with the notification. Non-compliance may result in the reduction of the current medication dose by 50%. For example, if the current dose is 10 mg daily, it will be reduced to 5 mg daily.
  • If a drug screen tests positive for any illicit substances (e.g., methamphetamine, ecstasy, cocaine) or for medications not prescribed to the patient, the doctor will first educate the patient on the risks and proper use of controlled medications. If there is a risk of withdrawal, a 14 to 30-day supply will be provided. If the patient continues to use illicit substances or non-prescribed medications after education, an alternative medication will be prescribed, and they will be discontinued from receiving the controlled medication.
  • If a drug screen is negative for a medication that should be present in the patient's system, the patient will be properly educated by the doctor on the use of controlled medication. If the patient still isn't using the medication as prescribed after education, an alternative medication will be prescribed. If non-compliance continues, they will be discontinued from receiving the controlled medication

I have been informed of, understand and agree to the controlled medication policy explained above.
